]We hope you will join us for our next episode of DSMA Live when our guest will be  Dr. Jason Baker, Founder and Director of Marjorie’s Fund and Sandy Narayanan, Vice Chair, Board of Directors.



Jason BakerDr. Baker is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Attending Endocrinologist at Cornell Medical College in New York. He is a graduate of Emory University College and Medical School. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at New York University and a fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Baker, a type 1 diabetic himself, has interests which include disease management through education and lifestyle interventions, prevention of type 1 diabetes, and the impact of diabetes on international health. Dr. Baker has been involved in numerous global health diabetes projects in Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Republic of Georgia, Qatar, and Haiti. He founded the non-profit organization “Marjorie’s Fund”, a type 1 diabetes global initiative dedicated to education, care, and research of type 1 diabetes in the developing world. Dr. Baker also serves as a contributing author to The Medical Letter and contributing editor to CNBC’s diabetes education network dLife.com. His publications include the diabetes chapter in “Public Health in the 21st Century” and the foreword to “The Sweet Life” a cookbook for type 1 diabetics by celebrity chef Sam Talbot. It was in February 2010 at a diabetes meeting in Kampala, Uganda when Dr. Baker met Marjorie. The two remained friends until Marjorie’s death in 2011.




Sandy has undergraduate (U.of Bombay) and graduate (U. of Kansas) degrees in Psychology and a Masters in Industrial and Labor Relations (Cornell University). As a Human Resources consultant, Sandy has spearheaded strategic initiatives in various organizations. She is an ACE-certified personal trainer and health coach and is currently enrolled in the MS, Nutrition and Public Health program at Columbia University Teachers College.
