Chatting with Alanna was a blast! We talked a lot about her diagnosis and nearly immediate immersion into the diabetes camp experience. Her camping helped her quickly find herself and gain confidence in living with diabetes.

She was a camper, counselor, director of arts & crafts, then director of the leadership program at Clara Barton Camp. It was clear that diabetes camp was a big part of who she is, and that serving was a huge part of her life for a long time.

Alanna helped start a diabetes twitter chat in Canada hoping to help connect people in their own towns and help focus in on some of the Canadian specific aspects of diabetes in Canada.

We also talked a lot about the health system in Canada, and how things like routine care and then using advanced tools like insulin pumps works where she is.

It was a fascinating show, I hope you’ll check it out.
