DSMA Live with Bea on 4/12/212
Diabetes Blogger and Advocate
Listen to DSMA Live here at 9 PM EST
Bea’s pancreas went rogue. It hasn’t completely deserted her, but it conspired with the rest of the endocrine system to make her life interesting. She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2001 and was involved in the awareness cause way before her diagnosis when her father died of heart complications.
Hailing from South America, Bea brings a unique perspective to the diabetes community. Her multi-lingual social media skills motivate others and make them feel less isolated, while also helping her understand her own condition better.
Bea is also open about the reality of dealing with depression while living with diabetes, and how it can work so hard to undermine a person’s efforts. Through her openness, she’s able to shine a light on what others are feeling, but afraid or embarrassed to express.
