DSMA Live with Ann Bartlett on 9/20/2012

On September 21, 2012 by Cherise Shockley

I have lived with Juvenile Diabetes since 1970. My experience living with diabetes is that you don’t have to overcome the diagnosis, you have to learn to embrace it!  I have always loved challenging myself because it teaches me about the many levels of my body, mind and spirit.

I realize that I will be married to conventional medicine, but I love understanding the body in sickness and in health.  I have an insatiable need for knowledge in healing from all approaches and I am an avid fan of integrated medicine. I’ve been a practicing massage therapist for 20 years and I own an integrated wellness center.  Personally, I nourish myself with combinations of bodywork, yoga, acupuncture, nutrition and a steady diet of conventional medicine, side by side.

In addition to owning The Body in Balance Center, I am very active in the Washington DC speaking with families who live with diabetes and also speaking to groups about health and diabetes education. I am consulting with Sanofi U.S. Pharmaceutical.  All opinions are my own.
