After Thoughts: Dr. Jen Dyer MD, MPH
What an amazing show last night. If you missed it, you can catch the replay and listen at your convenience (please forgive the advertisements, until we have a sponsor to help with the cost of blogtalkradio, they’re a fact of our life).
It didn’t take long to see that Jen is a special person. She doesn’t have diabetes, but she has a real gift for understanding the burden that diabetes can be. Dr. Polonsky, of the Behavioral Diabetes Institute, is the only other person I know of who understands so well without actually living with diabetes. Putting Jen right next to Dr. Polonsky is one of my highest compliments (I love that guy!).
The hour-long show flew by last night, and we could have easily talked for another hour. Jen recently left clinical practice to develop a mobile app focused around diabetes. It sounds like a real winner, focusing on the daily tasks of diabetes management, but also touching on educating those supporting us (who often may not realize just how hard we work), as well as planting many seeds of positive emotional feedback.
She’s hoping that the app will be ready for both iPhone and Droid platforms within the next month or so. You can check out her blog, EndoGoddess Musings, to stay up to date on everything.
I do hope you’ll take the time to listen to the show – this “After Thoughts” post doesn’t do her awesomeness any justice at all.
Jen said that she is “inspired by the grace that people living with diabetes show.”
