Don’t Be Afraid
Whether you’re just finding the Diabetes On-line Community or have been involved for a long time, I bet everyone can remember starting out. Tweeting that first tweet, writing or commenting on that first blog post, making that first connection on Facebook. At the start, social media can seem a bit confusing, or even a bit intimidating. So this month lets think about the things we wish we had known and tell us . . .
What advice would you give someone who was trying to figure out how to use social media?
The only piece of advice I can give someone trying to figure out how to use social media is DON’T BE AFRAID.
DON’T BE AFRAID to lurk.
DON’T BE AFRAID to start a blog.
DON’T BE AFRAID to post a comment on a message board.
DON’T BE AFRAID to ask a question.
DON’T BE AFRAID to be you, do you and or share your story with diabetes.
I promise once you post your first question on a message board, write or read your first blog, send your first tweet or find the long lost diabetes friend on facebook, you didn’t know existed…Your life will never be the same.
Diabetes changed my life. The diabetes online community changed my outlook on diabetes. I’m not alone. You are not alone.
DON’T BE AFRAID.
