Q1. Did you attend diabetes camp when you were going up? If so, what do you remember the most?
– Nope, there was one in my area, but I wasn’t really interested..I was a shy kid.
Q2. If there was one available-would you attend an adult diabetes camp for both T-1 and T-2? If so why or why not?
– Probably not. Depends on the group of people, but definitely not if it included T2′s, as I feel all the stuff would focus around them. In my town, you are either a parent of a T1 child or you’re a T2. If you don’t fit into either group, you have NO support group. Therefore, us T1 adults generally keep to ourselves. If they were to do a camp with both, T2′s would be more aware of it than us, so we’d likely be the minority.
Q3. What type of team building activities would you like to see at an Adult Diabetes Camp?
– N/A, not really sure at the moment.
Q3.5: What type of “not” so serious activities would you like to have?
– Cake eating contest.
Q4. Camp Counselors: Endo’s, PCP’s, PWD’s or a little bit of both?
– Endos and treated Diabetic Specialty Staff like Nurses, Dietitians, etc.
